A.M. Botte recently did an oil to electric conversion for a resident on a rural location. This customer had an expensive-to-operate oil furnace for heat in their home. The customer expressed that she was spending a fortune on heating their home with oil. We did an oil to electric conversion for this customer, installing an ultra-high efficiency 20 SEER variable speed heat pump and air handler. Since this home is in a rural setting, there was no natural gas present, but that did not stop us from providing a solution to dramatically reduce the energy consumption of this home. Now, this customer will use about 50% less electricity to cool their home in the summer, and reducer their carbon footprint by a factor of 4, by heating with ultra-high efficiency heating. Also, if this customer gets solar in the future, they would then be able to heat their home for virtually no-cost during winter months.
